‘One Body,' 2020. Acrylic on canvas. 10 ft. x 17 ft. Mission Services, London, Ontario.

How can organizations better support individuals experiencing homelessness?
Insights and stories from those directly affected were shared through creative engagement to inform and guide decision-makers.

Mission Services London invited individuals receiving services to share input on how the organization could better support the community. Through painting, writing, storytelling, and photography, participants shared firsthand insights into experiences of homelessness and addiction. A team of community members was trained to facilitate the sessions, and the resulting mural became a key resource in the organization’s strategic planning. A tailored process was also designed for board members to interact directly with individual images and quotes—bridging their decision-making work with the lived experiences of the people they serve.
