‘Queer Joy’ 2024. Multi-media digital collage. Calgary, Canada.
What does queer joy look like?
This collaborative project among Mount Royal University, MacEwan University, Norquest College, and Olds College aimed to foster solidarity among 2SLGBTQIA+ students, staff, and faculty. Held on March 13th, 2024, the event brought together over 70 people from across the four campuses for a collective arts engagement session. The resulting Queer Joy! digital mural includes artworks from 53 2SLGBTQIA+ participants. Co-designed by the organizing team and contributors responding to an open call, the mural is a powerful mosaic of individual pieces created during the event, later assembled into the vibrant artwork displayed here.
